Our duty to lead
We know that engineers play a key role in solving society’s greatest challenges. Public institutions like Michigan Engineering have an obligation to improve the quality of life, and we feel it is our duty to take our institution from “great” to “best” in order to educate the engineers of the future and provide ground-breaking research to complex problems.
Over the coming years, we will focus on three pillars of excellence – research, education and culture – pushing ourselves to be innovative, daring and forward-thinking in our service to society. Providing the foundation for these pillars will be our core values, and the people and spaces that enable our work. Threaded throughout will be a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through our five-year DEI Strategic Plan, and an evaluation of our physical spaces through our five-year Strategic Facilities Plan.
This strategic plan will help inform decisions made across the College, ranging from what facilities we build and who we hire, to how we train our people and allocate resources. Our biggest resource – the students, faculty, staff and alumni – will enable this to happen.
